Whale Watching
From late January through March these gentle giants occupy the coves and inlets
of Baja. Many of them can be found about 400 miles northwest of Cabo, and some will
continue their journey south to the cape where they will birth their calves. Whale
watching tours depart daily from the harbor.
Glass Bottomed Boats
Explore the unusual rock formations, the sea lion colony and get a great look at
the tropical fish as you sail around the Arch to Lovers Beach. Tickets are available
at your front desk or at the Main dock at the Marina.
Swimming & Beaches
Los Cabos has miles of Mexico's most spectacular beaches. Their unspoiled beauty
is breathtaking. The "Corridor" is a photographer's vision. There are also craggy
rock formations where the desert meets the sea, making this coastline particularly
photogenic. You can enjoy beaches on foot, horseback along the bluffs or from the
window of your car.
Sport Fishing
There are more striped marlin caught within 20 miles of Cabo San Lucas year round
than any place in the world. The deep-water canyons at the mouth of Cabo San Lucas
harbor and the warm waters of the Sea of Cortez waters create favorable fishing
conditions most of the year. Generally, the peak season for marlin is mid-October
through December, but after January varying species run well each month. The Esperanza
concierge can arrange for group excursions and private charters.
Surfing & Windsurfing
Costa Azul offers the best waves for surfers between June and October. The best
place for windsurfing is 45 miles north of Los Cabos Airport at Los Barriles. For
those who want to stay local, the main beach area in Cabo San Lucas offers great
waves for body surfing waves.
Sailing & Parasailing
There are a variety of sailing tours offered in Los Cabos, from snorkel, sail, parasail,
and sunset cruises. Departures are daily from the marina.
Kayaking & Jet Skiing
El Medano Beach is the place to go to rent all water sports equipment. A variety
of equipment may be rented. Half day or full day rentals are available.
Diving
Dive locations near Cabo include: Anegada, Land's End, The Blowhole, Cabo Pulmo,
Socorro Island, Gorda Banks, La Larga and the Sand Falls. Diving in the Sea of Cortez
is
an unforgettable experience, with shipwrecks, caves, reefs, and sandfalls to
explore. Where you go depends on your expertise. Snorkeling tours are perfect for
a taste of the underwater world.
Tennis
A majority of the large hotels and Cabo resorts have tennis courts on their grounds and
equipment is available to rent. Courts are are also available at the Los Cabos Country Club (the golf course in San Jose del Cabo).
Horseback Riding
Scenic horseback riding is available nearby. Riding trails traverse the beaches
of Los Cabos and showcase Baja's desert setting.
